On February 25, 2022 US President Joe Biden nominated Ms Ketanji Brown Jackson to be the first Black woman to serve as a US Supreme Court Justice. The nomination is viewed as another step forward in seeking racial justice and equality. Just a day after the nomination, a weird event put a small African country in the middle. The small  African country is Rwanda.

The nomination of the highly qualified and experienced Ms Ketanji Brown Jackson to be the first Black woman to serve as a US Supreme Court Justice by  US President Joe Biden was hailed by most americans as a major  event and a major step towards racial justice and racial equality ()

But since the nomination, a weird event has created a surprise and stolen the moment.

It was expected that some right-wing conservative people would  resist the  nomination.  But how some of them have expressed their frustation was a shocking surprise. In fact, just after the nomination, the Fox News anchor Tucker Carlson, one of the loud voices of the right-wing conservatists in the US, has  claimed that the nomination of Ms Ketanji Brown Jackson is an attempt to “defile” the US Supreme Court and to “humiliate and degrade” the United States of America.

But that was not weird enough.

Tucker Carlson added that Ms Ketanji Brown Jackson was nominated “because of how she looks.  Do you want to live in that country? Most people don’t, of all colors. They think you should be elevated in America based on what you do, on the choices not on how you were born, not on your DNA, because that’s Rwanda.”

Tucker Carlson's statement referring to  the small African countrry of Rwanda has raised eyebrows and put that country in the middle of the event that have nothing to do with it.  Some  rerporters and journalists were quick to react, condemning Tucker Carlson's statements. One of them, Jennifer Rubin, a  Washington Post columnist, referred to the statements as  “the perfect distillation of white supremacy”.

The questiion remains: why Rwanda?
